Puffy is the mascot of [[OpenBSD]] probably since 1997.  This was the date that Niels Provos implemented [[blowfish]] encryption as the default [[crypt(3)]] in the [[OpenBSD]] system.  Someone was delighted by this and drew the first blowfish and stuck it on the CD encasings and CD's.  In subsequent releases Puffy goes on missions to fight for freedom and justice.
