MAN

Metropolitan Area Network. Is similar to a WAN and LAN but it stretches over an entire metropolitan area, usually in any topology that the network architect of the MAN sees that a community and (business community) can make use of best.

It's probably not uncommon to see switched ethernet over fibre in MAN's.
