A lot of people are having issues when upgrading to 11.10.
Audio
Upon first reboot, audio wasn't working. Open alsamixer, hit "m" (maybe twice) to make sure it's not muted, and then his F6 to make sure it is using the right audio device.
$ lshw -C multimedia
to get a list of your audio devices. After that, I was still having issues, so I removed my .pulse directory:
$ mv ~/.pulse bak.pulse
and reboot. If it's working now, you can remove bak.pulse.
